Trains

We are it Seems destined to spend our lives on Trains, If its not travelling to concerts it’s travelling to Football matches, but who would have thought that getting from Stoke on Trent to Chester by train would be such a PITA, queues, crushes and cows on the line all working to grind my gears and to top it off I’ve had to sit facing backwards for two journeys (holding onto my breakfast is becoming increasingly difficult.😂🤢🤢🤮🤢🤢)

The passenger overcrowding on our Rail networks has now gone far beyond being a joke,It has now got to the point of being downright dangerous in my honest opinion. The train that we caught from Stoke on Trent to Chester had a change at Crewe which really didn’t help the situation at all.

The 1st part of the journey was a packed train to Crewe which was 20 minutes late due to cows on the track somewhere around Milton Keynes and on which we managed to get seats, through the kindness of a couple of Students giving up their seats for a couple of old codgers. The second part of the journey from Crewe to Chester was also a bit of an experience due to overcrowding again,we had been lucky enough to find a seat for ‘she who must be obeyed’ and a seat became available for myself when I “asked”the girl in the row behind if her handbag had paid for the seat it was on or was she going to move it for me to sit down, thankfully she chose the latter option. Surely in this day and age the train companies must know the average amount of users for any given journey and if that is the case surely they must be able to plan how many seats they would require.

Anyway the trip back on the Sunday morning was a much more pleasant and relaxed journey,No overcrowding and no pushing and shoving to make sure you get a seat.It was an altogether more civilised trip including being able to sit facing in the direction of travel so there was no chance of losing my breakfast. (Rant Over)

This week has been rather hectic here in the potting shed, most of the garden has been put to bed for the winter, well apart from replacing the greenhouse glass but that ‘s a job for another day, one job I do have left to do is to wash and clean all the Bird Feeders that are dotted around the Garden.First they will have any food that’s left in them binned and then they are soaked for a couple of hours in a strong mix of Jeyes fluid (other disinfectants are available) then they are rinsed in cold clean water and left to dry before refilling and put back out in different spots around the garden.

The other thing that’s still outstanding is the Christmas lights which need putting up but with according to some me being an old “Scrooge” they Will not be going up in the middle of November like some people around here seem to do.

It is also the time of year for the girls school plays as well as their birthdays and that means party after party, my social life through december is a never-ending kids party they all seem to merge into one another.

So that’s about it for this week.
